The normal work day at VBP begins at 7 a.m., when Al Berg, Jacob Fellure, and Joseph Bertram show up for work. At 9 a.m. Sarah Berg and Grace Kendrick come in. At that time, the men come into the office, and the five of them have a time of Scripture reading and prayer. One of the items they always pray for is the success of the special meetings at other churches that we post on our website and in our mailouts. Quite often we hear from pastors telling of some visitor as a result of these emails, but this past week was a special blessing and answer to prayer. Allan Thompson, whom I had not seen for nearly thirty years, drove two hours with his wife and teenage son from Clinton, NC to the Hopewell Independent Baptist Church in Hamlet, NC where I was preaching a mission conference. We had a great time of fellowship, and after I returned home, Allan called telling me that he had gotten everything right with the Lord and this past Sunday had attended the Benson Grove Baptist Church, closer to his home. Brother Allan didn’t know that he had been on the VBP prayer list and had been prayed for every working day for at least two weeks before the meeting in North Carolina.
Allan also presented me with a beautifully hand-crafted skinning knife that he personally made, and though I no longer hunt, I will cherish the knife as a reminder of how the Lord has blessed in these past few weeks.
